Joint Health

Let’s talk about joint health

I have helped a number of my clients with dogs of all types recover joint functionality with the following protocol I thought I would share.

Prevention:

There has been a study done that says running on gentle rolling hills throughout puppyhood can decrease the chances of mild to moderate hip dysplasia. Avoiding excessive stair climbing before 3 months of age is also helpful.

Puppies who carry too much weight or are forced to gain weight too quickly can also be prone to joint issues.

Keeping your adult dogs an ideal weight and in an active lifestyle also matters!

There is no cure for some conditions without surgical intervention, but you can get some comfort and functionality back with proper supplementation.

Keeping your dog on joint care supplements for the course of their life can drastically improve the quality of their life and extend their ability to be active as a senior dog.

If you have a dog showing arthritic symptoms or having trouble with their hips already, it is advisable to double the dose for their weight for the first couple of weeks.
